• H.E. Tahir Salim Al Amri
    Executive President at Central Bank of Oman

    Royal Decree No.44/2017 appointed His Excellency Tahir Salim Al Amri as Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) in September 2017. He provides overall leadership to the CBO in its endeavors to achieve the desired goals and objectives for supporting the overarching national interest. H.E. Al Amri has been dealing with public policy for a long time and his expertise lies in economic and financial policymaking. At CBO, while serving as the Executive President, nurturing a sound and resilient banking sector and deepening of financial markets remain the topmost priority of His Excellency. Towards this objective, important policy matters steered by H.E. include banking regulations, monetary policy operations, financial stability, payments, settlement, Fintech, etc. H.E. Al Amri possesses wide experience, and before taking over as Executive President of CBO, he held various executive positions in Ministry of Finance and other institutions in Oman. He also served on the board of several prestigious private and public entities those were engaged in diverse fields, viz. banking, sovereign wealth management, shipping, and oil& gas. H.E. holds a B.Sc. degree in Finance & Accounting from Salford University, UK.
