Fadi Kanso is an experienced senior economist and financial markets analyst since 2009 and university lecturer since 2006, with a demonstrated path of working in economic and financial markets research. He is an economic commentator and a writer of more than 30 articles and studies focused on the Lebanese economy and the MENA region at large.
Fadi joined AFCM in March 2021 as the head of research, to provide a sound and deep supportive research infrastructure and therefore reinforcing AFCM’s commitment to nurture the regional markets with permanent in-depth and reliable research and analysis covering the Middle East and North Africa region at large, and therefore to support both AFCM internal strategic planning processes and its role as a major contributor to the flow of information.
He deals with regional, global financial markets and key macroeconomic issues, with an in-depth knowledge of MENA economies, and contributes to the preparation of economic and financial periodicals illustrating the global financial markets’ developments and the regional equity markets highlights. Furthermore, he supports the Secretary General in developing the AFCM research agenda with frequent research papers on related topics of interest, in addition to managing the content of AFCM events and annual conferences, from the agenda and the panels talking points, to inviting speakers and other related logistics. In addition, Fadi has contributed to set up the first 13-year fully-fledged database in the region covering the major indicators for 16 Arab MENA exchanges to serve AFCM members efficiently with a general objective to make information access easy and help them in the decision-making process.
Prior to this, Fadi was the team leader of the Macroeconomic research unit at Bank Audi’s group research department, the largest bank in Lebanon and one of the leading banks in the region. He is skilled in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Statistics and Time Series Analysis, and holder of a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paul Cézanne - France.
