Palestine Exchange (PEX) launched on Monday October 5th activities of the World Investor Week (WIW) 2020 under the slogan “We Invest in Knowledge” by “ringing the bell for financial literacy” ceremony, which comes this year as part of an open day for PEX’s employees children.
The children’s “open day” contained various activities including “ringing the bell for financial literacy”, get the children to their parent’s job at the exchange and many other recreational activities organized in accordance with public safety measures while maintaining social distancing.
The WIW 2020 will last until Sunday October 11th with various activities including launching an awareness campaign via social media on the importance of financial literacy and the role of financial markets in this aspect. It also include a contest for “The Best Drawing” targeting children up to 13 years old, suitable drawings will be published on PEX’s facebook page and the best five will receive financial rewards. The WIW 2020 will also include publishing an info graphic movie using PEX social media channels, on “How to invest” targeting different segments of society.
Ahmad Aweidah, CEO of Palestine exchange, stressed on the importance of the WIW saying that” this year, PEX participates in this global annual event for the 4th year with 35 other members of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). It comes this year amid the Covid-19 pandemic that cast a shadow over different aspects of life but we have to continue with our awareness efforts, as the need for financial literacy is ongoing”. He added that “today we ring the bell to pay more attention to closing the gap in access to financial services and to enhance financial inclusion in Palestine”.
It is worth mentioning that the World Investor Week is promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). “Ring the bell for financial Literacy” initiative is held for the second consecutive year in partnership with the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) to promote the importance of financial literacy.
