In his intervention, Dr. Khalaf presented the “linkage project” of the seven GCC exchanges proposed by the Arab Federation of Exchanges that is going to be achieved through a technical network aimed to facilitate trading by investors in one GCC country of securities listed in another GCC country and to bridge the procedural gap in the GCC stock markets.
Dr. Khalaf presented the different mechanisms that have been studied in order to facilitate trading between these countries, as well as the different obstacles that are being confronted. Finally, Dr. Khalaf stressed in his intervention on the importance of generalizing this project, once done, to all Arab Stock Exchange in a first step and to extend this linkage to Istanbul Stock Exchange and through it to all OIC Members States Stock Exchanges in a second step.
