The Corporate Challenge is a competition where student groups perform field work on a case study prepared by The School of Management and a local financial organization. The case study is relevant to emerging issues in business and addresses an ongoing project provided by the local organization. This is the first time that the fifteen teams partaking in the competition, made up of NYIT’s master’s-level business administration students, learned the case thoroughly and devised plans of action. The teams presented their analyses and recommendations in front of Mr. Rashed Al Balooshi, Chief Executive of ADX and a panel of faculty judges.
Dr. Ahmad Tabbara, Executive Director, NYIT Abu Dhabi, Dr. Gantasala V. Prabhakar, Assistant Dean, School of Management and SOM Faculty graced the occasion.
At the end of the competition, ADX Chief Executive thanked NYIT for its efforts in organizing the event, and later presented the Challenge winners with trophies in recognition of their achievement as well as certificates for the participating teams.
Commenting on the distinctiveness of the challenge, Mr. Al Balooshi explained that these students, tomorrow’s business leaders, will be better prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing business environment, and that working with NYIT on the Corporate Challenge is the perfect opportunity for ADX to tap into some of the brightest minds across the UAE as ADX seeks real-life solutions to issues facing the financial industry.
ADX Chief Executive reiterated: “The Corporate Challenge enables students to make that vital connection between theory and practice in the fast paced world of casework and in an innovative educational context that inspires their creativity in developing and applying investment strategies. “
”The cooperation between ADX and NYIT in particular, and ADX and universities and academic institutes in general reflects our commitment in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange to support educational initiatives and our commitment to encourage and promote professional skills of students in all parts of the United Arab Emirates towards achieving investment literacy and attaining potential careers in the financial world.” Al Balooshi added
On his part, Dr. Ahmad Tabara, Executive Director, NYIT Abu Dhabi, said:”The NYIT Abu Dhabi campus continually engages its MBA students in experiential education activities to complement traditional classroom learning with significant direct experience. Our emphasis on this component of our program is accentuated in the School of Management’s campaign of creating new TEMPOS … in Global Business Education. The “E” in TEMPO represents our commitment to experiential education. Corporate Challenge Case competition is one such experiential education/learning initiatives at NYIT’s.
