Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Organizes Seminar “Implications of the introduction of V.A.T. on Businesses in the UAE”

The Canadian Business Council (CBC) Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), is organizing a Panel Discussion on the implications of V.A.T. on the local businesses in the UAE on the evening of Wednesday 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at Dusit Thani Hotel.
 
The Panel, which includes H.E. Rashed Al Blooshi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), shall address the impact on the stock markets in the UAE and the mechanism of calculating the VAT among other pertinent issues. The discussion shall be moderated by Mr. Omar A. AlHashmi, Co-Chairman of the UAE-Canada Business Council which has just opened its offices in the Canadian city of Toronto this last September during the visit of H.E. Eng. Sultan Al-Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy during the Joint Economic Committee meetings between the UAE and Canada.
 
The Panel also includes a senior expert on Taxation from Price-Waterhouse-Coopers (PwC) whose contribution was quite instrumental and two senior representatives from Abu Dhabi’s prominent law firm Hadef & Partners who are going to address the legal and legislative framework for the V.A.T. law in the UAE.
 
In a comment about the Seminar, H.E. Rashed Al Blooshi said that “ADX is very happy about the spirit of cooperation with the Canadian Business Council in organizing this timely and important event”.
 
This shall be the first Seminar is a serious of discussion panels with senior experts and decision makers to address the implications of VAT. To this effect, Mr. Jack Matar, Chairman of the CBC said that “one of the CBC’s mandates is to provide insight on all issues of pertinence and importance not only to the Canadian business community in the UAE but also to all the other resident business representatives in the country”.
 
He further added that “plans are already underway to organize a second panel discussion addressing the impact of V.A.T. on the retail, banking and real-estate sectors”.
