The World Federation of Exchanges Delegation Visits Bahrain Bourse

 A high level delegation of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) visited the Kingdom of Bahrain on the 27th and 28th of August 2014, as a part of the Federation’s procedures to review the memberships of its member stock exchanges.
 
Throughout the visit, the delegation met Bahrain Bourse (BHB) officials in addition to a number of officials in the Kingdom, including his Excellency Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance; Minister in Charge of Oil and Gas Affairs, and his Excellency Mr. Rasheed Al Mearaj the Governor of Central Bank of Bahrain, a number of listed companies’ senior officials and licensed brokers in Bahrain Bourse.
 
The delegation reviewed in detail the Capital Market sector’s legal infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the rules, regulations and procedures regulating the work of Bahrain Bourse and its related parties in addition to the future plans of the Bourse.
 
Following the visit, a voting on upgrading Bahrain Bourse from an affiliate to an associate will take place in October at the annual general meeting of the Federation in the Koran Capital Seoul.
 
The World Federation of Exchanges is the largest organization for Stock Exchanges in the world, where it has more than 120 member stock exchanges and in which the market capitalization of its members comprise almost 97% of the total value of all Bourses worldwide.
